Free Digital SAT Prep Stack

You do not need a $2k course to start. Free prep works best as a stack of three tools: real practice tests, free lessons, and a coach between tests. We are the coach piece — not the score.

One hard rule: Practice tests in College Board’s Bluebook app = the score you can trust. Chat AI and free drills are tutors only. If anyone sells “AI practice tests that predict your 1600,” walk away.

This page is for the current Digital SAT, not the old paper test. Reading and Writing uses short passages, often one paragraph and one question, instead of long multi-page readings. Math allows a calculator the whole time, including Desmos, a graphing calculator built into Bluebook, and some Math answers you type in yourself. Each half of the test has two timed parts called modules, and how well you do on the first part decides whether the second part is harder or easier.

Four Parts (Use in Order)

  1. 01

    Real Practice Tests (Bluebook)

College Board’s free Bluebook app. Same style of test you’ll take on test day — timed, on a computer, with sections that get harder or easier as you go. This is how you answer “where am I?”

  2. 02

    Free Lessons (Khan)

Khan Academy Official Digital SAT for skills you missed. College Board’s What’s on the SAT when you need plain format facts. Fix the holes from your last practice test — not random playlists.

    Coach Between Tests (Us)

That’s TestLessons. Free prompts matched to today’s Digital SAT — score plans, Math habits, Reading & Writing stems. Copy, paste into ChatGPT, Claude, or similar. Then close the chat and go back to Bluebook or Khan. No account required here. Prefer one short paste page first? Paste into chat (why matched to the current exam format + Score Plan prompt + Bluebook exits).

  4. 04

    Extra Free Practice

Get comfortable with the built-in calculator (Desmos) so it doesn’t slow you down on test day. Short section drills when you have energy — not endless random worksheets.

A Simple Week

1–2× / week: A Bluebook practice test (or a full Math or Reading & Writing section). Review the same day while misses are fresh.

Most other days: Khan or short repair on the 1–2 problem types you missed. Short blocks beat marathon cramming.

After you get a score report: Run our Score Plan prompt once — ranked skills + 14-day fix — then work the plan offline.

Never: Six AI “practice tests” and zero Bluebook. That only feels like prep.

Skip These Traps

  • Old paper-only SAT books as your main path (wrong timing and passage length for the digital test).
  • Treating chatbot question banks as the same difficulty as the real exam.
  • Buying three workbooks before one honest Bluebook practice test.
  • Never touching the calculator until test day, then freezing when it appears.
