Editorial standards: how we check answers

This page says plainly how we make and check what's on TestLessons, and what we can't promise.

Official material first

Real practice tests from the test makers set your score, not us. Our pages send you to the official practice tests first (for example the College Board's Bluebook app, ETS POWERPREP, GMAC's mba.com, LSAC's LawHub and AAMC practice) and use our own material for planning, review and extra practice between them. Where a page gives exam facts such as timing, sections or scoring, it names the official source so you can confirm it.

Exams change. If you spot a fact that no longer matches the official test, tell us (see Corrections below).

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help draft, edit and check the site. That includes the study plans, explanations, practice passages and the 24 AI prompts. We say so here because you should know. AI can be wrong, so nothing is published on trust: we check exam facts against official sources and check practice answers as described below.

The prompts are written to be pasted into an AI tool you already use. They ask the tool to work from your own scores or official questions and not to invent scores. They don't replace official practice or a human tutor.

How we check practice answers

  • MCAT CARS practice passages. We write each passage and its questions first. Then a second AI model, which never sees our answer key, solves every question from the passage alone and points to the line that supports its answer. We compare its answers with ours. If they disagree, we fix the question or the explanation and check again. We also balance the position of the correct answers so the key isn't predictable.
  • GRE model essays. We write the essays ourselves and score them against our reading of the published ETS score levels. They are not official ETS scores, and the page says so.
  • Score tools. The CARS score interpreter uses the official AAMC percentile table and shows the date of the table. It doesn't predict your test score.

These checks are done by AI models and by us. They are not a review by the test makers or by a certified tutor, and our passages are not real AAMC questions. A check can miss things, so if you think an answer is wrong, please tell us.

Corrections

If something is wrong, we fix it. For a real change to the content we update the page and its "Last updated" date. We don't change that date for layout or typo fixes, so it means something.

To report a mistake, use the Contact page and tell us which page and what looks wrong.

No paid placements

No one pays to be listed or recommended on TestLessons. We don't take sponsored posts, and we don't sell recommendations.

Some of our book links go to Amazon and are affiliate links (our Associates tag is testlessonsid-20). If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, TestLessons earns from qualifying purchases.

  • Book suggestions sit at the end of a page, after the free material, and each box says that the links are affiliate links.
  • We put free official options first, and a book is never needed to use the site.
  • A commission never changes what we recommend. If a free resource is better, we say that.

Who we are not

TestLessons is independent. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the College Board, ACT, ETS, GMAC, LSAC or the AAMC. Test names belong to their owners.
