Free GMAT Focus Prep Stack

Focus is three equal sections. Free prep is a clean stack: official mba.com practice, free Starter Kit volume, and a coach layer between mocks. We sit in that coach slot — not as your 205–805 truth.

Hill we will die on: official Focus practice = the real measure of your score. Data Insights (DI) is one-third of the exam. Ignoring DI is how smart people leave points on the table. No Sentence Correction (SC) as primary Verbal. No classic Integrated Reasoning (IR) as the main event.

The Four Layers (Use in Order)

  1. 01

    Official Focus Practice

Timed Quant, Verbal, and Data Insights under Focus rules via mba.com prepare and official mocks. Structure facts: exam structure. This is the only honest baseline.

  2. 02

    Free Official Volume

The free GMAT Focus Official Starter Kit for structure and free items. Use it after you know section order and miss tags — not as infinite untimed scrolling.

  3. 03

    Coach Between Mocks

That’s us. Format-true prompts for score plans, section order, DI multi-source habits, Quant with no on-screen calculator (DI has its own), Critical Reasoning (CR) and Reading Comprehension (RC). Paste into any major chat assistant, then close the chat and return to official practice. After every timed set: miss log → Score Plan when it was a full mock. Verbal leak (still on SC, or CR without naming the gap)? Open the Focus Verbal clinic before another classic book.

  4. 04

    Optional Community (Carefully)

Forums can explain a sticky DI setup after you have a miss log. They are not calibrated Focus difficulty and still ship classic SC/IR noise — filter hard. Prefer Focus-tagged threads; skip Sentence Correction (SC) as primary Verbal.

A Week That Actually Compounds

1–2× / week: Official Focus section or mock under real timing. Same-day review.

Most other days: Starter Kit or targeted CR/DI/Quant repair on top miss tags. DI gets calendar time equal to Q and V.

After scores: Fill the miss log → Score Plan → Score Plan if you need fourteen days. Confirm section order.

Never: SC grind or classic IR as primary Focus prep.

Self-Study vs Course (After Baseline Only)

Do not buy a syllabus before one official Focus mock and a filled miss log. That is the hill.

Stay self-study when: you are near target, you have enough weeks, and free volume + miss-tagged repair is moving official scores. Use our prompts as the coach layer; mba.com stays the real measure of your score.

Add a course or one content platform when: the gap is large, weeks are few, or two weeks of official sets + tags still leave the same leaks cold. One system — not three subscriptions.

Either path: Data Insights (DI) equal calendar time with Quant and Verbal. No classic SC stack as primary Verbal.

Decision detail and buy stacks live on Resources — after the baseline, not instead of it.

Skip These Traps

  • Classic GMAT SC or separate IR as your main path.
  • Quant “geometry grind” first on Focus (wrong emphasis).
  • Treating chatbot banks as Focus-calibrated difficulty.
  • Buying a full shelf before one official mock + miss log.
